STONY CREEK IMAGES
Reflections are the defining character of Stony Creek and, for me, these are the most important images in my paintings. Growing up as a Stony Creeker is living on the water. The images that go through my head are the reflections on the water at high tide, low tide, sunset and sunrise. Nowhere are the seasons’ moods stronger than in Stony Creek. The view changes from swimming water to icebound harbor. Here winter images of boat stakes with no boats, white out blizzards in the harbor and dead frozen salt marshes evoke a strong sense of melancholy.
In the spring, bright green new growth in the salt marshes makes the spirit soar when the wading birds return to nest. Stony Creek images have a sense of place unique to its islands, birds and fish -- born at the water's edge.
